Bigfoot at Anadarko Basin

Benefits:

Saving customers time and money.

Challenge:

How can customers test pressure and then open the toe sleeve later at a lower pressure?

Solution:

PetroQuip’s revolutionary toe sleeve, Bigfoot, to initiate circulation.

“You just saved us tens of thousands of dollars on this job and a whole lot of time!” – PetroQuip customer.

Details:

In a situation where coiled tubing would normally be run to initiate circulation or first hydraulic fracture in a new well, the operation was instead done directly through the Bigfoot toe sleeve.

Bigfoot was installed and cemented in place. Eight days later, the operator rigged up to test the casing with a test pressure of 9,500 psi being applied to the casing and held in place for 30 minutes. The casing pressure was then bled down to 0 psi. Once the first casing test was successful, the operator chose to cycle through the remaining casing test chambers by pressuring up to 8,500 psi then bleeding to 0 psi. On the final cycle the sleeve was opened at 4,600 psi. The operator then pumped into the formation with an injection rate of 11.5 bpm at 7,200 psi. A total of 150 bbls was injected before shutting down.

Bigfoot allows operators to test their casing at a high pressure and then come back at a later date and open the toe sleeve at a lower pressure. This highly valuable feature can also be coupled with the optional additional feature of having multiple high pressure tests, and then opening at a lower pressure. In this particular case study, the tool was prepped with two high pressure cycles
(9,500 psi) and set to open at a much lower pressure (4,600 psi).

The most critical tracking operation casing test questions every operator is asking are:

  1. How high of a pressure test can I achieve?
  2. How long can I test that pressure?
  3. How many test pressure cycles can I conduct?
  4. How soon after testing do I have to open the toe?

In our newest work, Bigfoot satisfies all four questions! The product meets and/or exceeds all criteria while totally eliminating the need for coil tubing in the initial stage – a savings of tens of thousands of dollars and hours/days of work in and of itself, depending on the specific situation. To re-cap, the unique and patented Big Foot design enables the operator to:

  • Test to ANY desired maximum pressure
  • Test at each desired pressure for AS LONG AS desired
  • Test MULTIPLE time Open WHEN desired

The sale of Big Foot Technology took place on September 14th, 2017.
