Details: Project Zonal Isolation
Part 1 – An independent oil and gas operator reached out to PetroFrac, a wholly-owned division of PetroQuip, for an open-hole completion solution.
The operator was experiencing water breakthrough and needed selective zonal isolation.
Our solution was to provide four separate stages isolated with open-hole packers, utilizing sand screen covered APCV™ sliding sleeves for zonal control.
See the schematic below.
Part 2 – Once we did the engineering work, we then moved to testing.
We hydraulically tested all equipment for pressure integrity, then tested each sub-assembly (a tool with adjoining pipe), to ensure the integrity of the premium threaded connections.
Each APCV assembly was shift-tested and hydraulically tested before they were wrapped with a premium screen.
Part 3 – The installation went as planned with all packers set at the correct depth and the liner hanger tested.
One week after the installation the bottom two APCVs were shifted open to provide communication to the reservoir.
The upper completion with the ESP was then run and the well is now successfully producing.
